I love how God works! After posting today about "Peace" I went about my day. I enjoyed getting comments from those who read that post, and thanking God for the promises He is going to fulfill. Many hours later...I was getting ready to go to bed when I decided to turn on the radio. At first, I heard some advertising and tuned it out. The next thing that played got my attention:
It's your season to be blessed.
God made you a promise, you've stood the test.
The windows of heaven, pour you out a blessing.
It's your season to be blessed
I really believe God was speaking to ME tonight! Isn't He wonderful?

Peace
There is a deep, settled peace in my spirit today. God seems to be everywhere I am. :) I know He is "everywhere" all the time, but sometimes He seems closer than at other times. I know you have experienced the same.
A song I heard this morning says:
It's your season to be blessed.
God made you a promise, you've stood the test.
The windows of heaven, pour you out a blessing.
It's your season to be blessed.
What promise have you been waiting on? It's your season to be blessed!
Believe it!
Grasp it!
Don't let it go!
Now...walk in faith the rest of the day! He has heard your prayer, and is in the middle of fulfilling YOUR promise!

Our Weekend In Beaumont
Where do I begin? The weekend with Jonathan, Brenda and the girls was wonderful. We had a great time just being together, shopping, and "hangin' out". (that was for any young people that read my blog) LOL!
Sunday services rolled around and we were so refreshed from being at The Apostolic Church. The presence of God was so sweet and strong. There was unity in worship and His presence touched us all. Sunday night, part of the service was focused on the new school year and those who are involved in any aspect of the educational system, and for the "kids" that were getting ready to start school today. Each student was given a prayer cloth to take with them into the new year, and if they wanted they could put it in their back pack and carry it to school with them. Then, we had special prayer for all of them. It was very touching and I believe God sent angels to surround each one as they began a new school year.
I taught Brenda's class Sunday morning and at the end of my lesson I quoted the song, "Fear Not My Child". So, after lunch with the church leaders and new members, Jonathan and Brenda practiced it, and I was privileged to play the organ with Sis. Karen Hughes as she accompanied them on the piano. Wendell and I enjoyed singing "No Other Name Has Meant So Much to Me". The saints seemed to really enjoy it. Several of them said they enjoyed the "new song". Some of you may have heard my husband say at one time that, "We are singing an old song tonight, but for those who have never heard it, it's a "new song". A "new song" is just one you've never heard before." That's my husband! He has a great philosophy! Maybe I can talk about that one later. :) One of the last things that happened in service, was the "Elms Family Quartet" which was made up of my husband and I, Jonathan and Brenda. Yes, my husband sang the bass! :) We had a good time of rejoicing as we sang "Lord, I've Never Been This Homesick Before". All of us who have loved ones on the other side were reminded that we will see our loved ones again! I love the second verse...

I can see the family gather; sweet faces all familiar.
No one’s old or feeble anymore.
This lonesome heart is crying; think I’ll spread my wings for flying.
Lord, I’ve never been this homesick before.
No one’s old or feeble anymore.
This lonesome heart is crying; think I’ll spread my wings for flying.
Lord, I’ve never been this homesick before.
After church there was a surprise birthday party for Bro. Cole. He turned 80 years old!
We love Bro. Cole so very much, and respect him highly.
School has started and I am glad! I've been feeling the excitement in the air from children about the first day of school. I love to hear the comments from parents about their house being empty now. Some are sad, some are very happy! That's just the way we're all made up, I guess. I am one of the "happy" parents. Of course, I had some mixed emotions from time to time, but for the most part I enjoyed my boys being in school. It was fun to watch them learn, and I enjoyed the routine of things. Life seems to "get back to normal" when everyone's on the school schedule. I enjoyed taking care of the house in the mornings and preparing for the evening meal. I enjoyed my time at lunch with my husband. I enjoyed hearing all the stories from school. And, I enjoyed the "to bed early" rule we had. You might as well enjoy life as it comes! So many people live wishing this or that was different, but kids are meant to grow up, and when you cut the "apron strings" and let them "take wings and fly" you'll be proud of them, IF you have prepared them for the "big world", and IF you have "done your homework" while they were "under your feet".
Since we were in Beaumont today, I got to see Scarlet go to her first day of Kindergarten. She was so excited! Savanna started 4th grade today. She had a hard time going to sleep last night. she couldn't hardly wait for this morning to get here.
Alayna is in 2nd grade now. I'm waiting to see some pictures of her first day of 2nd grade. I know she was adorable, as always. Ashlyn still has a couple years before she's in school. She's going to be "something else"! I laugh just thinking about it. Hopefully, we'll get up to see them soon.
I'm rambling tonight, but maybe you can make some sense out of what I've written, and AT LEAST I'M BLOGGING!!!!! :)

Family, Friends, and God
This past week we have enjoyed being home and taking advantage of "just being home". In fact, I told my husband that I would like to stay home this weekend. We thought that's what we were going to do, then as the week went by we decided we would go to the Installation Service for Bro. and Sis. Hopper in Hardin, TX. It was our first time to ever be in that town and church, but when we drove up we saw a very nice church building. We walked into the foyer, and was greeted with warmth and sincerity by the saints and ministry. We felt right at home! When the service started I was so impressed with the quality of music and singing, but not only the quality was great, but the spirit of which those leading, singing, and playing was awesome! The presence of the Lord reached down and embraced all who were there. Pastor Donnie Hendrick from Copperas Cove was the special speaker for the night and his message was anointed and heartfelt. There was a drawing to the altar by the spirit of God as Presbyter Darrel McCoy asked for us to respond to the Word of God that we had heard. As I stood in the altar I felt a beautiful peace flood my heart. I believe I know how it must have been like to stand in the presence of Jesus when He was on earth, because as I worshiped Him last night, I knew He was "here" touching ME! The song: "Standing In the Presence of the King" has been one of my favorites through the years, and as the years go by, I am still amazed that He would allow ME to come into his presence. What JOY feels my heart when I have that opportunity. After service, the church served a delicious meal and we had a wonderful time visiting with fellow minister's and wives. I've said many times on my blog, but I will say it over and over again... I LOVE being part of the family of God! After we left the meeting, we headed toward Beaumont to spend the rest of the weekend with our family.
Today, has been a good day. The girls are looking forward to school starting. Scarlet goes to Kindergarten this year, and Savanna is going into the fourth grade. When we arrived here last night we were greeted with squeals of delight, and almost immediately we were being shown the cute backpacks they will be carrying for the school year. I remember those days very well, but it wasn't backpacks that I was excited about, It was... the brand new, WHITE tennis shoes that Mother bought me at the beginning of the school year. She never let me wear tennis shoes to church, but on the Wednesday night before school started, and MAYBE the first Wednesday night after she would allow me to wear them along with my cute school clothes! Those were the days...:-)
The girls love to write and draw. They are at the age where it's one of the ways they "communicate". Of course, we love it! When we walked into our bedroom there was a sign laying on the pillows that said: WELCOME to BEAUMONT, TX! I saw right away that it was from Savanna. She has a very sweet way of writing her feelings, and to a Papa and Mimi her few words say a million "I Love You's". Here is what she wrote:
Dear Mimi and Papa,
I have missed ya'll even though we just saw ya'll! LOL!
But, every time I see ya'll it brings me joy!
Love,
Savanna!!!!!!
Yes, I was seriously wanting to stay home this weekend, but after the awesome time spent with friends, and then such a sweet heartfelt welcome from family, we would have missed out on so much. Then...
This morning Wendell received a call from Andrew asking us if we could meet them at Del Rio (Lufkin) for lunch! This was an unexpected turn of events! Andrew said, they were meeting the Orange's to pick up our other two sweetheart granddaughters, Alayna and Ashlyn. I was disappointed that we couldn't see them, and at least get some "hugs and kisses", but there was no way to be two places and one time! Of course, they understood we didn't know they were going to be anywhere around. I know one thing for sure, we want to take another trip SOON to see the other "grands"!
You know......Heaven is going to be a wonderful place, for we will all be together...forever! I'm just glad that we get to enjoy a "little Heaven here on earth"! If it wasn't for a family that loves me, and friends who care, and a God who touches me and gives me His love, there wouldn't be a lot to look forward to here. So, until we can all be together forever, I will be happy to spend another weekend just like this one...with family, friends, and God!

Elms Family Reunion 2010
I talked to a friend the other day, and during our conversation she asked, "So, what have you and Wendell been doing lately?" I wasn't expecting the question, because I thought she knew. I surprised myself with not being able to answer! What was that all about? I guess we've been so busy, that I had to stop and think about what I had been doing, so, I answered, "Oh my! We've been doing a bunch of things." :) She knew I was stumped and asked, "How was the family reunion?" I am going to try and answer that question, but I will say right now, "there is no way to describe what a great time we had".
It has been ten years since our last "Elms Grand Reunion". The Elms Brothers get together every year, and we have a Elms Family Dinner/Reunion at General Conference, but some of the family members do not attend GC, so we decided it was time to "be together" for several days.
Earlier in the year it was decided that we would all meet in Amarillo, TX with the "Amarillo Gang", as they are lovingly referred to. Since we have family in California and all the way to Florida and North Carolina we felt this would be a good "meeting place" and it was! Most of the family was there and we missed those who did not make it. But, for the rest of us who did make it, we had a BLAST!
We met on Monday evening for dinner at Ron and Jeana's house for a "Greet, Meet, and Eat" family time. There were cousins who had been born since the last time we were all together. It was fun watching as the younger generation met each other. At first they were shy and not real talkative, but it didn't take but a very short time and they were off in their world talking and laughing. We had a delicious Mexican dinner and it was some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten! Then, everyone had a great time of talking...and talking...and talking. After all, we had to catch up!
From Monday through Friday night we had a wonderful time! Golfing, Shopping, Texas Drama in Palo Duro Canyon, horse back riding, fishing, boating, 4-wheeling, etc. We also had a camp fire service with the "Elders" speaking words of wisdom. Then, they asked for members of the "younger generation" to speak, if they would like to. WOW! What a wonderful time we had together in the presence of God and each other.
I can't wait for the next family reunion! I only hope it won't be TEN YEARS from now, and I'm sure it won't be, because I've already been hearing some talk about when it should be.

Facebook, Words...with friends, and Blogs
Anyone who "knows me", knows that I love staying in contact with my friends and family. I have so many incredible, awesome, intelligent, and super-duper friends, and the more I'm "connected" to them, the better I feel.
I am getting ready to close my eyes for the rest of the night, but decided to stop by and check my blog. I see there are people who have been so kind to stop by and read what I've had on my mind, and I'm so glad they did. Thank you!
I have a Facebook account, a Words With Friends account, and I enjoy texting and visiting via the internet. I had a very special text this evening from a dear friend, and all I had to ask to start a conversation was, "How are you?" and that opened up a good conversation. By the time we finished "talking" I was so glad I had asked the question. I knew when I "signed off" from visiting, that I would be praying for her everyday. God is good to give us people who we can "care for" and help lighten their load through prayer. I'm glad He trusted me enough to let my friend "text" me tonight.
Although I enjoy Facebook, WWF, and texting, I have come to the conclusion that I like "blogging" the most! (although "Words With Friends" comes pretty close - lol) I love to write, posting my thoughts, and I love to read my friends' blogs to see what's on their minds. I did that tonight, and what I saw was so uplifting. I saw a beautiful lady who had her birthday recently, and she had made a post about her "special day". In one of the pictures she had posted of herself with the cake, she was smiling as if someone had given her a million dollars! I'm sure they didn't in silver and gold, but God had given her a beautiful family to love and cherish, and they are returning that love as she grows older. So you see...if it wasn't for the wonderful world of internet we would have to wait a week, or two, or three, or four, or maybe more to share in the happiness of others.
I've written a "random blog" tonight. :) I must be tired seeing it's 2 a.m.! I can now close my eyes and go to sleep! Sweet dreams....zzzz!
Oh, WAIT! I wanted to say just one...more...thing.
If we'll treat the "internet connections" as a Christian should, we will not "listen to" nor "contribute" anything that would be displeasing to God. Choosing your "friends" carefully, whether they be "face to face" or on FB, is a must! I really don't think that being derogatory, critical, cutting, carnal, negative, and "un-Christlike" is something Jesus would be pleased with. A true Christian will not "listen" to that kind of talk, nor will they allow it out of their own mouth! I encourage all of us to be Christ-like in our "conversations" so we can continue "enjoying each others company".
I. think. I'm. FaLLiNg g gg G.g.ggg. a-S-l-e-e----p.............

God Is Good and I'm Excited
Today we are preparing to go to our Elms Family Reunion in Amarillo, TX and I am SO EXCITED! Most of the Elms' family, from the East to the West will be there and I can't hardly wait! I love being with our family! There's always a lot of laughs and drama, and when we leave we are refreshed and happy. I really don't know if I will be blogging over the next week, but if I do, I'm sure it will be fun to read! :)
So, until I sit down tonight or maybe a week from now...have a great weekend and remember...
GOD IS GOOD...ALL THE TIME...ALL THE TIME...GOD IS GOOD!

Deeply Touched
Announcement on Calvary Tabernacle's Home Page...
"All Calvary Tabernacle members and friends are encouraged to attend the National Deaf Conference at CT. Powerful worship and Preaching... You will be blessed! Sound is provided for the sign-language impaired. Evening services begin at 7:00p.m. Tuesday - Friday."
Last night I logged into the National Deaf Evangelism Conference that is going on in Indianapolis, IN at Calvary Tabernacle. To say that I was touched by what I saw and heard would be an understatement. As I watched I saw a congregation of people who cannot hear the music and songs that were being sung, and I watched a man of God preach, that could not speak with his mouth...only with his fingers and body language. I heard the voice of the interpreter as she "preached" for those who could hear and my heart was stirred deeper than I can say. I felt the power of the Holy Ghost as much as if I had been in one of the conferences I'm used to, and I was amazed! To see people worship God without a voice, and without being able to hear what I'm so accustomed to was incredible!
Bro. Murillo, the "deaf" preacher who preached last night was so anointed! As he ministered there were times in his excitement that I would hear expressions of his voice, but no words, yet I knew without a doubt he was speaking a language GOD understood, and those he was "speaking to" did also. He spoke of his conversion and how God had taught him through the reading of the Bible. He told of the revelation of the oneness of God, Jesus Name baptism, and the infilling of the Holy Ghost and how no one could explain it to him, but Jesus did! In the "quiet of his world" God talked to him and let him know that he was loved by Him!!
The whole service my heart was speaking to me and I thought about the times I have been at church and the P.A. system wasn't perfect, and the music wasn't perfect, and someone didn't say it "just right". I thought about the times I have let the "sounds of music, and voices, and clapping, and worship, and praise" become so common that I could no longer "hear in the depth of my spirit", the still small voice of Jesus.
I, for one have been changed from visiting a service that wasn't for ME! I'm glad I was able to attend!

So Glad I Know...Truth
I was sitting here tonight and thought, "I'm so glad I know Truth!" There are so many people who do not understand scripture, and do not know Jesus and what He can do for them. Then, there are those who have known Him, yet now do not have anything to do with Him. I do not understand how they can turn their back on Him after all He has done in their lives!
I really don't have any reason to write this tonight, except it's just a "thought" I had. I'm really hoping those who have turned their back on Him, will turn around and come back to where they once were. I also pray that they have not been so deceived that they do not even know that...they left Him!
One of the songs I've loved through the years rings in my ears.
Above all else, I must be saved.
Above all else, I must be saved.
Whatever you have to do to me,
Don't let me lost for eternity.
For above all else, I must be saved.
My heart also sings...
He's the only reason I live, but oh what a reason.
He's the only reason I live, but oh what a reason.
There's nothing in this world worth living for;
It only leaves you empty and longing for more.
Oh, He's the only reason I live, but oh what a reason.
If I didn't have Jesus in my life, I wouldn't have anything. There is NOTHING in this world that I want more than Him!
"Dear Jesus, in this last hour just before you come, please keep us close to YOU. And, please bring the wandering one "home". Amen!"

Modesty and the Christian Woman
This is very well said! I think it's very interesting that over the last few weeks I have heard "other ladies", other than our organization/preacher's wives, talking about MODESTY!
We, who claim to be filled with the spirit of God shouldn't have to be told to "cover up"! It's a shame that any man should have to turn away from a woman in order to keep from being embarrassed! Come on ladies! If you're guilty of dressing immodestly, you need to re-evaluate your walk with God. Please do not claim to have the Holy Spirit of God indwelling your heart, if you dress in a manner that is not pleasing to Him. Dressing in such a way that would cause a man to sin, IS sin. Any woman who dresses sensually is dressing that way to get the attention of MEN! They sure do not dress sensually for other women. (at least I hope not) There is an attitude and feeling that goes with a woman who dresses in this manner. I've always believed that it is NOT an ACCIDENT when a woman wears anything that draws attention to "private areas" that should be kept only for her husband or future husband.
Whether she is a young lady, middle aged lady, or a grandmother, every woman knows what she is doing when she dresses immodestly! We ARE women, aren't we? We KNOW how to get attention! We need to make make sure it's the RIGHT attention coming from the RIGHT man in our lives! There is nothing more beautiful than a woman who has learned to be a LADY! Ladies are respected, because they are RESPECTABLE!
"Mirror, mirror on the wall...do I look okay to go to the Mall?"
We all have mirrors! Maybe we should use them a little more often!
And remember...little girls grow up to be young ladies. Make sure you dress them accordingly. When you look at your developing "little sweetheart" see if she is dressed as a young lady should be dressed. You can dress them to be beautiful or you can allow her to dress in such a way that she "looks like" she's for sale. You choose!
I started out by making the comment, "this is very well said". I could have left it at that and let someone else do the speaking, but I think it's time for us to take a stand for godly principles, and godly living "as unto the Lord"! Don't let anyone tell you they have found freedom, when they are bound with "lust for this world".

Trust and Hope In God
JESUS! JESUS!
How I TRUST Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er.
JESUS! JESUS!
Precious JESUS!
Oh, for grace to TRUST Him more.
This week I opened a magazine and read an article about an 88 year old man who just bought a new motor home. He is still driving, and traveling in his motor home. He said, "I will travel until my wife says I can't anymore." But, what really caught my eye was he said he's had a quote on his desk for many years that says, "Don't give up on your dreams."
I had told my husband this week that I had decided to "settle for something less than I had really believed and dreamed about". I had basically "thought it through and it probably wouldn't happen anyway" so, I decided to just say..."Oh well".
Most everyone has a "dream" they have held on to through life. I've stopped by to tell you to "Don't give up on your dream"! First, place all your dreams into Jesus' hands and pray for His will to be done, and if He says OK...then hold on with everything in you. Whatever it may be, keep it close. Don't let it go! Live with an expectancy that it "just might happen today", but have the attitude, "when it's God's time, it will happen".
"I want it...if You say okay, Lord...so, if You do...I'll hold on until I GET IT!"

A Word to YOU
I just sat down in my "easy chair" at home to check my email, read the news, and relaxed a few minutes before going to bed. I then opened Facebook to see what was happening with my friends, and for some reason this scripture came to me very strong:
"TRUST IN THE LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding..." These words kept coming to me and I started to write it on my Facebook Status Update, but felt compelled to open my blog and post it here. Evidently, someone who reads my blog is needing to read these words! It doesn't matter if I know you or not, but if you're the one who needed this tonight/in the morning, then know God LOVES you SO MUCH and wants you to know to TRUST HIM! The scripture continues..."in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."
I am going to close for now. I think I will be able to go to sleep since I have given to you what Jesus wanted you to hear.

High Tech Mimi
I had to jump on here tonight and say...I'm glad I am a high-tech Mimi! LOL! I found out late, but in time to log-on to Louisiana Camp Meeting to hear Pastor Anthony Mangun preach about taking our families to Heaven! I have claimed my family for God through the years, but I continue to claim them! I don't plan on ANYTHING taking them away from the Truth they have been taught and have lived. In Jesus Name...we WILL meet on the streets of gold.

Nation's Oldest Postal Worker Retires
I was listening to the news today and heard this story. What faithfulness!
Please Don't Give Up
Again, I'm coming to you to ask you to "not give up" coming to my blog. June has been an extremely busy month, so I haven't had the time to sit and "blog". I am looking forward to sitting down with my computer and filling in the blanks about what's been going on, soon. So...while I'm asking you to "not give up" on ME, let me just add a little encouragement.....
Don't give up on your walk with God.
Don't give up on your promise from God.
Just keep on going!
Keep on praying!
Keep on believing!
HE will answer when He knows the time is "right" for YOU!

Safe With Friends
Last week was the 64th Texas District Camp Meeting. To say we had a wonderful time would be an understatement! The comment I have heard the most from those who attended is, "This has been an "old time camp meeting". The spirit of Camp Meeting was filled with unity, therefore we had powerful moves of the Spirit. I was overwhelmed many times as I stood in the presence of God.
The preaching of the Word by those who were chosen to deliver it to us was anointed and delivered with passion, clarity, and excellence! Bro. Wayne Huntley was our Evening Speaker. I really don't know why we have pews to sit on! He preached with such an anointing and I found it hard to sit down, as did many others! At times, the crowd was on their feet as he delivered his heart to us.
It was wonderful having Bro. and Sis. Huntley with us. We enjoyed his preaching and her singing.
The music and singing was absolutely heavenly. The music coordinators for the day chose songs from "yesteryear" coupled with songs of "today", bringing us into the presence of the King. Sis. Dedie Cooley was the Master Music Coordinator for Camp Meeting and chose all the music coordinators and specials for each day. WOW! Everyone was on the same "wave-length" and I don't know when I've been blessed by music and singing as I was this time. My soul was drinking in His presence as it flooded our hearts. For those who were unable to attend just know that you would have enjoyed being here.
We heard SOLID preaching and teaching! Bro. Dan Segraves and his wife were with us. He taught on Bible doctrine during the day.
Bro. Donnie Hendrick preached about "Contending for the Faith". Bro. Jeff Story brought faith to our hearts when he preached, "Where Is God?". We heard about "Living In the Land of Hope" by Bro. Gene Holley from Wichita Falls.
Bro. Brett Cooley preached a powerful message on repentance, "The Lost Message of Pentecost". All the messages were "meat for the soul" and anyone who wants to be saved could go to Heaven by listening and obeying what was preached at Texas Camp Meeting this year.
I am struggling to write this post because I have very deep emotions running through my heart and mind. There were times while standing in the presence of God that all I could think of was... "I feel so SAFE"!
SAFE...from "fear of the future" for the great organization we have chosen to be a part of.
I didn't hear one thing about "going back on the message of the Apostolic Church", or "loosening up on the standards of living" we have chosen to follow. I am happy to say, we heard what it means to "love God with all our hearts", "living a holy life unto the Lord", and "loving truth" more than ever before. We didn't hear "fluffy" preaching!
SAFE...for the future of my grandchildren. I believe "truth" is safe in the hands of the younger generation of preacher's and their wives. I feel confident that there are younger preacher's wives who are standing for the right and will help lead my granddaughters "in the way they should go".
SAFE...in the presence of my friends. Friends, who love me and would do anything for me. Friends, who are there in the good times and in the bad. Friends, who will pray for me and my family when we have a crisis in our lives. I had a friend say to me, "Isn't it wonderful being here with everyone when you're going through a trying time in life?" Yes...yes it is wonderful!
I AM SAFE
My husband called a long time friend on Saturday to just say he was happy to see he and his wife at Camp Meeting. While he was on the phone with him he said he wanted to tell me something. Wendell handed the phone to me. I was a little surprised, then I heard the familiar voice I had heard through the years. "Linda, I saw something the other night when you were standing talking to me and I have been praying for you. I just want you to know that God has heard your prayer..." He said more of which I will not disclose, but when I hung up the phone, I said to Wendell. "I feel SO SAFE! To know there are men of God who will pray for me (us) is overwhelming."
I am SAFE...because there are those who listen to the voice of God, and when they hear Him speak they take action. They do not use their "spiritual gifts" for their GAIN, but when God speaks to them they obey Him and follow the direction He leads. I know there are those I could go to at anytime and they would pray until...
I am SAFE...because I have a God that understands me and loves me even though I'm not perfect!
I am SO THANKFUL for the people I know personally that I can trust.
I am not afraid of loving, because...I have been loved.
I am not afraid of giving myself to others, because...I have been given to.
I am not afraid to reach out to those hurting, because... I have been reached to.
I am not afraid for I AM SAFE...in the presence of God and my friends.
I thank God for my heritage in the United Pentecostal Church. I am so glad I am a part of the greatest Apostolic movement that has ever been. And, as my husband said so adequately the other night..."I don't want to hear any griping about it." :)
Have a great week! I will try and be back in a few days. Crusader's Camp is starting in 15 minutes and I am EXCITED! I am going to make my way to the camp ground in a little while to see what is happening. It's going to be FUN!

Wrapped In Arms of Love
It was a quiet morning. I was getting dressed for the day, and planning on getting on the road to Wichita Falls when I heard a little voice, "Mimi, I'm cold!" I looked down at my little three year old granddaughter who was standing in the doorway looking up at me with those big, beautiful eyes that are always full of expression. I noticed she had a "snuggle blanket" wrapped around her and at that moment it didn't matter if the world stopped spinning, I was going to stop and hold her until she got warm! I looked at her and asked, "Do you want me to hold you?" Her little head nodded up and down and I reached down and wrapped her up. Holding her close I walked over to the rocker and rocked. She never said another word, and neither did I. We were both content to relax and rock. She went to sleep and I enjoyed the quiet morning for a little longer.
I got on the road.
I don't know when it happened. But, I remembered...
There have been times in life when I was "cold". I really didn't know where to turn, except to my Heavenly Father. I could hear myself saying, "Jesus, I'm cold!" No, I didn't say it quite like that, but in essence I did, and it was at that very moment I felt Him stop what He was doing, reach down, wrap me in His arms, and rock. It didn't matter what it was that made me "cold", I just needed to feel His love and strength warming my heart, and as it did I was contented to......stay awhile.
I really believe I felt the heart of my heavenly Father that morning as I sat and cradled Ashlyn in my arms. I realized once again that anytime I tell Jesus what it is I'm feeling, He WANTS to stop and make my world better.
Come to think of it...I really believe He ENJOYS those times with ME!

Memories and More Memories Made
It's been a real busy week. Maybe I should rephrase that and say, "It's been ANOTHER busy week". Now, I feel better! LOL!
Wendell was gone this past week to be with his brothers in San Diego. Since Mom and Pop Elms have gone on to Heaven, the Elms brothers have had a "Brother's Reunion" every year. There's not a whole lot that stops them from getting together on that special week, so, while Wendell was gone I pulled things together here at home and headed to Balch Springs to see my kids and grandkids. The Shoemake's were also ministering in the Wednesday night service at Greater Apostolic Tabernacle, and I wanted to see them. The church really enjoyed their mininstry and Andrew loved having his Aunt Bobbie in HIS church. When Mother passed away Bobbie became his "grandmother" and his emotions ran deep as he spoke about her.
Of course, "Aunt Bobbie" had to sing and she sung a lot and we enjoyed every note and word!
"Uncle Jimmy" ministered and did a wonderful job. Andrew enjoyed introducing him to "his people".
Mandy and I fixed tacos after church and YES they were DELICIOUS! :)
We had a wonderful time being together. I love anytime I'm with friends and family!
Andrew and Uncle Jimmy were visiting and I walked in to see this.
Alayna was mesmerized as she listened to her Daddy talk about fishing and hunting. It was priceless!
I then traveled to Wichita Falls for my nephew, Cameron's, High School Graduation. I am so proud of Cameron and the young man that he has become. He lives for God with all his heart, and made good grades in school. He was in the top 10% for his grades in his class, and that's a lot to be proud of!
Here's the proud parents and brother with Cameron.
Sis. Connie Bernard, her daughter, Lindsey, and Sis. Sharpe, Sis. Bernard's mother were there to celebrate with Cameron.
It was great getting to visit with them for a couple of days. Sis. Sharpe is a beautiful person. Since being around her I saw why Sis. Bernard is the way she is. Training comes from the home, and when a person is "led in the way they should go" she (he) has the opportunity to "excel in life". That doesn't mean the person who "has not been taught" does not have the same opportunity, but they will find it harder to "become", more than one who has proper training.
Well...I wasn't going to teach a lesson in this post!!! I guess it's just inside and sometimes has to come out! :) OK....on we go....
What I was going to say is...What a beautiful, sweet, First Lady we have to follow in the United Pentecostal Church! I am blessed to call her "friend".
Uncle C.W. and Aunt Gloria came through Wichita Falls on their way home from their long vacaiton, so I got to see them again! That was another treat I got while there. Here's C.W. and Sharon looking at pictures and catching up.
I love this picture of Aunt Gloria and Sis. Bernard waiting for the graduation exercises to start.
I had many occasions to visit with friends and family on this trip. It was so much fun! Keith and Carla, Mallory and Taylor were there. I even had a chance to hear Mallory play the piano! She played some beautiful classical music and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I asked her to play "at least one song for me", but when I heard her I wanted to hear more. She was gracious to grant me that favor, and I will always remember the first time I heard Mallory play! The shy girl she has always been has become a lovely lady! Taylor is quiet when I'm around her, but she's a sweetheart. I love her gorgeous red hair, fair skin, and beautiful smile! God has a lot in store for her and I'm anxious to see how He uses her for His glory.
I could keep naming people, but I've already left some out. Not because I want to, but because you don't want to read all night or day. Just let me say...if I saw you I LOVED every smile, hug, or time we got to visit.
I enjoyed Sunday morning service at Life Tabernacle. They know how to have CHURCH, and I loved every minute of it. The special guest speaker was Western District Superintendent, Ron Mullings, so I got to be with him and Sis. Mullings! What a great time of fellowship we all had as we enjoyed "dinner on the ground" and "Friend Day"!
It was a 5th Sunday, so there was no Sunday night service. By the time we all got home no one said much of anything, because the weekend had been full of activity. Gene, Karla, Cameron, and myself "chilled" for several hours, then went to eat, again. Sharon met us and I enjoyed her company. Chad went to play golf and to "socialize" with friends. I think he was pretty happy with his game! GO CHAD!
I took this picture of Chad sometime while we were all still enough to get a picture.
I thought about going shopping with Karla Monday morning, but she was too tired, and I was ready to get home to my husband. He had flown into Houston on Saturday evening and I was anxious to be home to him!
I really could have taken Jazzy home with me, but I couldn't get out the door with her.
If I had driven off with her, I would have been hunted down and arrested! I'm sure of it!

I Wonder...Just Wonder
What is heaven going to be like?
My mind gets to thinking about it all, and after I've thought about all the beauty that is there, of which there is no way to even imagine, my thoughts wander back to what is really going to make it special.
1. Jesus will be what makes it Heaven for me.
2. Seeing my loved ones who have already gone "home".
3. Seeing my sons and their beautiful wives, and our granddaughters "over there". I can see them as they look around, trying to take in the FACT that "we've made it"! I know we will all be totally overwhelmed with the realization that......this is HEAVEN!
4. Meeting up with friends who made it to the other side before I did.
5. Meeting saints from all over the world, for the FIRST time!
6. Worship, praise, and adoring our Savior and King!
There is so much more that will make it Heaven, but the one thing I think of are the relationships I have made here on earth. As you see, #1 is Jesus...my Savior. I have a beautiful relationship with Him! I'm so glad I know Him, love Him and serve Him. He's the One that makes my life worth living. If it had not been for the Lord....where would I be?
Then, to think about seeing my family when we all get over there...wow...talk about laughing! We love to laugh when we're together here, but when we all actually realize we're in Heaven...well...the angels will have to step aside, because we are going to have a PARTY!
Tonight I was at a special meeting here in Lufkin. Go 2 Heaven Lufkin was wonderful! There were several UPC churches that gathered at the Civic Center tonight for a crusade. Eastview UPC and Pastor Hunt was the "host church" and they did a wonderful job of organizing a powerful service for the community. The music was great, the program of the service was well-planned, and the preaching by Pastor Hunt was anointed and very powerful. There were a lot of people in the altars, and I know some received the Holy Ghost.
When the altar call was given I went forward. I wanted to be where the action was, and there was a lot of "action". I smiled at one of the ladies from Cornerstone church as she was praying for a lady. Then, she stopped and told me "who" this lady was that was needing a touch from God. I couldn't believe it! I had stopped to pray for a lady that was raised in a church in Allison, TX where my parents had pastored before I was born. After she finished praying, I started explaining about this, and she said, "I know. I've already heard." :) I loved it! I then stepped back to speak to Sis. Clifton Boydston from Allison who remembered my parents. The lady I had been praying with was her daughter! It really is a small world!
After church, I went to eat with the "singles". My husband was not there because he is out of town, so I decided to go and enjoy the fellowship...and of course to EAT! :) I was sitting there and two of the ladies told me they remembered my parents and brother from a "long time ago", and I was overwhelmed once again about how neat it is to be raised in the church, and to remain a part of the people you were brought up to love and appreciate. I was so thankful that my parents had been part of an organization that they loved and respected, and that they took us to meetings in the district and to national meetings so that I could meet others "just like me".
As I write, my mind thinks about the awesomeness of Truth, and how great it is to have friendships/acquaintances from all over the world. These people love Truth with every fiber of their being! They would give their lives for "so great salvation"! I know a lot of these people personally, and I know the strong devotion they have for God, and the love they have for one another. These friendships have "stood the test of time", and the Truth is what has been our "common denominator". True, pure love from these beautiful people has kept me through the years, and has given me a solid foundation upon which to build strong relationships that have not crumbled.
No wonder when we all come together in one big meeting we can feel comfortable! Truth has set us free from the bondage of sin, and the attitudes that would divide. I'm thankful for God's love that we've been given, and I am thankful for the love of "fellow travelers" who have realized that we are only "passing through this land" and that our time here on earth is not for long. We have seen the "lights of home" and we intend to walk through the gates of that beautiful city, and we will enjoy walking on streets of purest gold...together.
What is Heaven going to be like? I guess we'll have to wait and see, but I think I've got a pretty good idea, because I've had a little taste of Heaven here on earth!
